Academic Extension Policy

Occasionally, students encounter extenuating personal challenges or difficulties while enrolled at HUHS that prevent them from completing all course requirements within a 16-week period. An extension may be requested by completing the Extension Request Form found below along with payment of a $50 extension fee. The Academic Extension request must be submitted on or before the original course end date, unless approved by the Director of Administration.

Upon review of extenuating circumstance, with supporting documentation, one extension up to 12 weeks from the original course end date may be granted by the administrative office. Administrative personnel may review the extension request, as well as the student’s academic record, in considering the request. When necessary, the administrative office may consult the appropriate Dean in approving or denying the extension request. Receiving an academic extension in no way suspends any financial obligations students may have to the University, nor is the student eligible for a tuition refund.

The student’s financial account must be current to be eligible for academic extension consideration.
